The Knitting Cove & Yarn Shop is located at 218 East Main St. in Port Jefferson. Take a look…
Nestled in historic downtown Port Jefferson, Knitting Cove and Yarn Shop has been a fixture in town for over 50 years. Under new ownership as of July 2015, the shop has undergone a major revitalization with many exciting changes including the addition of many new yarn lines and expanded hours. With fully stocked shelves and new stock arriving monthly, there is something to appeal to everyone. Friendly and inviting to knitters and crocheters of all levels, our cozy shop carries yarn from Berroco, Cascade, Plymouth, Juniper Moon, Ella Rae, Lang, Lana Grossa, Mirasol, and more! We offer monthly class sessions, specialty classes, and hold multiple Sit & Knit and Charity Knit sessions throughout the month. Our Charity Knit sessions have supplied handmade items to both local and international communities alike.
Spring will be in full swing for our first Yarn Crawl, with the addition of a great variety of spring and summer cotton, linen, and silk blend yarns. We will have special cowl and scarf kits, with two options each for knitters and crocheters. Also featured will be handmade, Fair Trade wooden yarn bowls from Darn Good Yarn, along with a few other special surprises! We are thrilled to be teaming up with Berroco for a trunk show featuring their latest yarns and patterns. During the crawl, enjoy 10% off all in stock Berroco Yarn.
On Saturday, April 9th, we are welcoming the amazing Amanda of Hamptons Yarn for her own trunk show. A native Long Islander and talented knitter and crotchetier, Amanda works exclusively with raw fleeces purchased from small US farmers, and cleans, processes, and spins them using her own two hands. She has been spinning for two years and recently started up her brand Hamptons Yarn to promote all-natural, handmade yarns which are healthy and free of any chemical/unnatural processing. Please join us in making Amanda’s thoughtful and creative venture a success!
